St John Ogilvie P7 Induction Visit 22 June to 24 June 2020

I hope you and all your families are well and continuing to keep safe during these unprecedented times.  May I take this opportunity to formally welcome you as parents and carers of St John Ogilvie HS.  As you may be aware, we have recently been given the opportunity to plan for our future S1 pupils making a short visit to school prior to the end of term as part of this year’s adapted transition programme.
In order to ensure that your children are safe, all pupils will not visit at the same time.  Instead, we ask that they visit in their own school groupings at the allocated timings detailed in this document.

Message to our P7s / future S1 Pupils!

April 2020

Hi folks

Hope you are continuing to stay safe and look out for each other. As I said last week, I will gradually drop further items or pieces of information on the website for you to look at. Today it is a short video from some of our S1 pupils of yesteryear answering some of the questions I am sure you will have! We also have some of our current S1 students telling you about life at 'Ogilvie' in your first year. I am sure you will find it interesting.

I will alert you via Twitter if anything else is added. Take care and stay safe

Mr McConville

Message to our P7s / future S1 Pupils!

April 2020

Hi Folks

Welcome to the ‘Journey to Ogilvie’ Section of the school website

As always, I hope you and you families are all well and continuing to stay safe.  As each day passes, we are closer to our lives getting back to some sense of normality.

Most of you will now be aware of our ‘Journey to Ogilvie’ Twitter account.  Many thanks to those of you who are already following us.  Please spread the word to anyone who may not be aware of it as I will use this as the first port of call when putting out any new information.

It is not my intention to respond to particular queries via this platform.  I am hopeful that any questions you may have will be answered in the messages I put out or via this section in the school website.  If you do have a concern that is specific to your son/daughter then my email address can be found in the ‘contact us’ section of the web site.

It is our intention in the coming weeks to feature on the web site and via Twitter:

  • A virtual tour of the school

  • Some views and opinions of our S1 Pupils who may have some advice for you!

  • A wee message from some of the teachers you will be working with at STJOHS

  • Some resources/ links to refer to help you prepare for the work you will be doing when you are a pupil here.

I will also try to ensure that there is support and guidance for parents as we progress through the transition process.  Having gone through it myself for the first time 3 years ago and undergoing it again right now, I appreciate the challenges that are coming your way!!!!!! I am sure that by continuing to work together we can ensure the coming weeks and months are as positive as possible!

You will have seen my original message to you (from prior to the Easter holidays) on the front page of website and also here.  Could I just reassure you again that we are working with everyone to make sure, that in spite of the difficult circumstances, we want you to be looking forward to joining us.

We are certainly looking forward to seeing you all!!

Please stay safe and look after each other.

Mr T McConville

School Library

Welcome

I would like to offer a warm welcome to all staff and pupils joining us at Saint John Ogilvie High School.  The Library is a wonderful resource centre, used by staff and students alike.  There is a booking system at the following link

You are all welcome to work in our centre before and after school. We are also open during part of lunch with the times outlines below.

We are a multi-functional working Library, we host our own Library activities, as well as Support for Learning and Computing classes.  The Library has thirteen networked computers, as well as an array of wonderful books.  The Library has hosted events such as Book Week Scotland, Dyslexia Awareness Week and The Summer Club, to name but a few.  We have also accommodated authors such as Jonathan Meres and Keith Charter.
I look forward to seeing you in the library!
Ms. Wallace
